| Overview The Taxonomic Tree contains a
full listing of the
kingdom Animalia, down to the family level. However,
the tree is not complete and may
contain inaccuracies.
Due to the enormous task of trying to catalog all
known species, many of the branches in the tree are disabled. We have disabled them due to the
fact that we have not verified them for accuracy. We
have concentrated our efforts on the branches of the
tree that represent the species that are included in
the Species
Library. As the Species Library grows we hope to
cover more branches in the tree, but it is not our
intention to document all of Animalia or the
other kingdoms. You can enable the disabled branches
and view taxonomic information for all of Animalia,
but we cannot guarantee the accuracy.
Our primary reference for the tree has
been the Integrated
Taxonomic Information System (ITIS). If you are
looking for more information than our tree provides,
this would be a good place to start.
Options
| Show
Only Major Levels |
When
this option is checked the tree will
only display the major levels
(Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order,
Family, Genus, and Species). By
default this option is not checked. |
| Hide
Disabled Levels |
When
this option is unchecked all branches
of the tree will be shown, but
disabled branches will not be
enabled (you can not move into
them). By default this option is
checked. |
| Enable
All Branches |
When
this option is checked all branches
of the tree will be enabled and you
can click on all branches to move
into them. However, branches that
are normally disabled have not been
verified for accuracy and errors may
be present. By default this option
is unchecked.
Note: For this option to be
useful you should also uncheck the
Hide Disabled Levels option. |
